“Chakra”, which is the Sanskrit word for “wheel”, refers to seven site specific concentrations of energy emanating from the body. Each of these Chakra centres govern its own expression of associated bodily, emotional and spiritual energy, yet each are linked and in tune with all the others.
When one or more of the chakras is over- or under-expressing its associated energy, itmanifests as an imbalance in the body, mind and spirit. When all of the chakras are balanced in their expression, then the physical, mental and spiritual well being is manifested.
Essential Oils Promotes Chakra Balancing
Within the practice of aromatherapy, the influence that aromatic plant essential oils have on the body, mind and spirit, can be adapted to promote greater balanced chakra functioning. By applying essential oils one can either activate and energize sluggish chakra functions or calm and quieten over-active ones. Balancing oils are good candidates for maintaining support of well-regulated chakras.
A combination of both activating and calming oils will tend to have an overall balancing and supportive benefit to the chakras. Here are a few suggestions to get you started.
Root Chakra – (Nutmeg / Cloves / Patchouli / Vetiver / Bergamot) A foot massage is a great way to balance the root chakra which regulates your sense of groundedness and stability. Nutmeg will activate a sluggish root chakra, while patchouli and vetiver calm an over active one. Choose a balancing essential oil such as bergamot to help maintain a smoothly functioning root chakra.
Sacral Chakra – (Cardomom / Orange / Ylang Ylang / Neroli / Bergamot / Sweet Orange / Sandalwood) The sacral chakra, which influences your sensuality, benefits from a lower back massage. Spicy cardamon essential oil awakens a dormant sacral chakra, while ylang ylang and neroli calm . Look to sweet orange and sandalwood to maintain a well functioning sacral chakra.
Solar Plexus Chakra – (Chamomile / Eucalyptus / Juniper Berry / Vetiver / Helichrysum / Citrus Bliss / Grapedruit / Lemon) A gentle tummy massage influences the functioning of the solar plexus chakra which influences your gut instincts. Apply eucalyptus and juniper berry to activate the solar plexus, and vetiver or helichrysum to calm an over active one. Good balancing oils to apply to an already well expressed solar plexus chakra are citrus bliss, grapefruit and lemon.
Heart Chakra – (Palmarossa / Lavender / Sweet Marjoram / Geranium / Rose)
The emotional centre that is the heart chakra readily benefits from a supportive perfumed annointing oil, applied to the breast bone or massaged into the middle back area. Palmarossa essential oil will open the heart chakra, while lavender and sweet marjoram will quieten it down. Try regular applications of geranium or rose essential oil to maintain a well functioning heart chakra.
Throat Chakra – (Lemon / Lavender / Roman Chamomile / Vanilla / Coriander Seed / Ginger) A body spray applied to chest and neck areas is an efficient way to influence the functioning of the throat chakra which influences your expressiveness and communication. Turn to lemon essential oil to open a sluggish throat chakra, and vanilla or Roman chamomile to calm. Coriander seed and ginger are balancing oils to maintain the even expression of the throat chakra.
Third Eye Chakra – (Rosemary / Clary Sage / German Chamomile / Frankincense / Sandalwood) The visionary, awareness supporting third eye chakra can be influenced with an anointing oil applied to the forehead or through simple diffusion and inhalation. Rosemary and Clary Sage essential oils will open a sleeping third eye chakra, while German chamomile will stabilize and focus this visionary chakra. Frankincense or sandalwood are good choices to maintain a clear and balanced third eye chakra.
Crown Chakra – (Lavender / Neroli / Vanilla / Frankincense) A room diffusion applied to the airspace around you is the best way to balance the transcendent crown chakra which occupies the space above the crown of your head. Spicy sweet lavandin clarifies a low functioning crown chakra, while neroli or vanilla calm. Look to frankincense to maintain a well functioning crown chakra.
People have been using singing bowls for thousands of years. Their origin is unknown, but it is believed that they first originated in either Nepal or India. In Tibet they were largely used as a ceremonial instrument and initially as possibly food bowls. It was not until the 1970’s that singing bowls also became popular throughout the west when their many positive benefits were discovered.
Singing bowls not only look great, they also have many amazing healing and transformative properties. Here are 6 benefits of using a singing bowl.
1. Promote Deep Relaxation
Holding a singing bowl in the palm of your hand and using a wooden mallet or ‘striker’ in the other hand as if you are holding a pen, by gently and slowly going around the edge of the bowl with the mallet in a clockwise direction, the bowl will start to ‘sing.’ As you hear the wonderful tone and feel the bowl vibrate, you will become more conscious of your breathing and feel more relaxed. This calming sound coupled with your breathing can help to release tension and promote a wonderful sense of calm and relaxation.
2. Reduce Stress and Anxiety
I have found that the almost hypnotic sound from a singing bowl helps to clear my mind of any stress and anxiety that I might be feeling. The resonance of the bowl synchronizes brain waves to induce a deep meditative and peaceful state. I also like to gently strike the side of the bowl once or twice to fill my room with the beautiful sound of the bowl, this almost feels like it clears the room of any possible negative energy.
3. Chakra Balancing
In the Indian system of healing, when a physical dysfunction occurs, it is believed that one or more chakras are blocked, or unbalanced. Many people find that the rich blend of harmonic overtones which the bowls produce, have a direct positive affect on balancing the chakras. When used as part of chakra balancing, singing bowls are said to have the ability to adjust and balance the sine waves of each chakra. The frequency from a singing bowl is able to travel from chakra to chakra, self-balancing.
4. Aid The Immune System
It is said that the vibrations from a singing bowl can also help to stimulate the immune system. Every part of our body is vibrating. The sound frequencies created by a singing bowl help to restore, optimize and balance the flow of energy in the parts of the body where this is required. One should always play a singing bowl in the clockwise direction, as the energy in a human body also flows in a clockwise direction.
5. Help You ‘Get In The Zone’
Singing bowls cause the brain to switch to Theta brainwave frequencies that heighten one’s clarity, intuition, as well as deep peaceful and meditative states. Scientists have discovered the upper end of the theta brainwave range produced by a singing bowl is what is considered vital to the healing of the body, mind, and spirit. This is referred to as “being in the zone.” After using my singing bowl, I always feel a wonderful sense of clarity and focus. This is another reason why I love to use a singing bowl as a part of my morning routine.
6. Improve Circulation and Blood Flow
A study published in the American journal of Health Promotion in 2014 found a greater reduction in systolic blood pressure and heart rate after a 12 minute relaxation session of singing bowls compared to silence. The sound from a bowl can reduce brain activity and therefore slow down our respiration and heart rate.
To create sound with a singing bowl, firmly press the accompanying mallet in a circular motion against the bowl’s outside edge or rim. When you hear a bright, clear tone, you can slow down the motion. Use your full arm to make the motion, rather than just rotating your wrist.
With all the above benefits they go hand in hand with essential oil benefits , yoga and also crystal healing.

Alternatively if you want a larger inventory there’s as much choice as you want.
The only investments required to add essential oil skincare to your list of items, services or treatments your company offers is a little time and some inventory. Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India thousands of years ago. The original meaning of the word yoga is believed to be “unity,” which is key to the overall goal of the practice: pushing one’s consciousness toward transcendence. Since the beginning, yoga has evolved and changed in many ways and throughout the years research has reaffirmed that this practice not only benefits physical health, but mental and emotional health as well.
Yoga has proven to be beneficial because of its three main components: asanas (physical postures), pranayama (breathing technique), and meditation. Oftentimes when we exercise we forget to incorporate these components. For instance, even though we are constantly breathing, it is not necessarily something we are consciously thinking about. In yoga, breath is the life of the practice; each movement is associated with a deep inhale or exhale. It is this state of active breathing that has been found to be highly beneficial, especially when it comes to our brain wave activity.
Modern day research has shown that yoga can help us manage stress, but why is that exactly? Studies have shown that yoga has the ability to decrease salivary cortisol, which is a known stress hormone. Additional studies have also found that yoga-based relaxation training can help stabilise the function of the autonomic nervous system, the system that controls our breathing, heartbeat, and digestive processes. Yoga also plays a significant role in decreasing heart rate. One study demonstrated that not only is breathing beneficial for overall brain wave activity but so is meditation and posture-based poses. These yoga practices have been found to stimulate the amygdala and frontal cortex, which house our memory and emotional reactions. As you can see all of these benefits can have a positive effect on our physical, mental, and emotional
well-being.
Now that we’ve learned about some of the science behind yoga, it’s time to understand how essential oils can relate to this ancient practice. While modern day science has yet to thoroughly ascertain the benefits of essential oils and yoga when combined, there are still many benefits to be received. Much like yoga, the use of essential oils aims to support the well-being of the body, mind, and spirit. Research has shown that essential oils not only provide emotional benefits but physical benefits as well. There are several studies that speak to the abilities of essential oils to help reduce anxious feelings and provide an overall sense of well-being. Other research studies have shown that they can help maintain concentration
Lastly, research has suggested that essential oils help promote feelings of clear breathing and open airways.
As you can see, yoga and essential oils easily go hand-in-hand. You can, and should, enhance your current practice by using the two together. So whether you are a brand new or seasoned yogi, everyone can benefit from using essential oils during their practice.
Here are some tips on oils to include in your practice:
