Essential oil soap making

If you’ve never made your own soap before, you would probably be surprised by how easy it can be. Adding essential oils to homemade soap is a wonderful way to infuse potent, natural fragrances. Not to mention, it allows you to experience any benefits the oils may hold for the skin. The step-by-step instructions for this DIY Soap are easy to follow, with an end product that smells lovely and you can personalise it to the issue you’re treating or the mood you’re trying to create. 

For example, lavender and arborvitae for sleep and relaxation and peppermint and lemon for an invigorating morning wash!

It’s very important to use safe natural essential oils that are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade.

Items Needed

Olive oil (optional)

A melt-and-pour soap base 

Silicone soap moulds

15 drops of Each essential oil


Optional: Dried or fresh herbs (Note: fresh herbs will turn a brown colour after a couple of days).

  1. Cut off the amount of soap base you want to use and place it into a microwave safe bowl.
  2. Add Olive oil if required Olive oil contributes moisturizing properties to soap. It also gives the bars a gentle and creamy lather, making it a great choice for dry or sensitive skin.
  3. Melt the soap into liquid form in increments of 30 seconds.
  4. Add a handful of dried hebrs to the soap mold. 
  5. Add the chosen essential oils.
  6. Mix together and pour into molds.
  7. Let it sit for an hour.
  8. Remove the soap from the mold.

Note: The soap should be fine for many months!
